PRIMARY SCHOOL ALCESTER, WARWICKSHIRE

Date: August 2021

Client: Our Lady’s RC primary School Alcester, Warwickshire

Value: £20,000

Form of contract: N/A

Brief Description of Works

McVeigh Construction secured an order directly from Our Lady’s RC primary school for the refurbishment works to their playground/sports pitch following the successful delivery of similar works at ST Gregory’s RC Primary school and church car park in Stratford on Avon Warwickshire.

Contract/Client Relationships

The works included preparing the existing playground surface for a new overlay of bituminous surface course. Covers were adjusted to suit the revised finished levels and joint cut to tie in the new surface course material. Finally a netball court was marked out using hot thermoplastic materials to the school’s requirements. In addition artificial grass was laid alongside the playground to provide an aesthetically pleasing surface for school children to use throughout the year minimising ongoing future maintenance costs to the school.

Constraints and Challenges

In order to complete the works during the school summer vacation it was necessary to access the site via the nearby public highway and the existing steel palisade security fencing was temporarily removed and reerected upon completion of the works. This limited access dictated the size and plant required so that hot materials delivered to site could be double handled on to site efficiently.

The School Headteacher expressed her gratitude for the work and complimented the site team on the standard of work.
